Peacetown is really two games in one.
Using one side of the game board, which shows the exteriors of ‘Peacetown’, players learn basic conflict resolution skills:
- Apologising
- Compromising
- Taking turns
- Sharing
- Avoiding
- Ignoring
- Getting help
Then turning the board over, they move inside the buildings of ‘Peacetown’, where they learn deeper conflict resolution skills: listening, respecting differences, communicating feelings, taking responsibility for actions and attacking the problem rather than the person. On both sides of the game board, players must use the skills learned to resolve thought-provoking conflict vignettes presented on game cards. These vignettes – and an engaging double-sided game board populated with diverse children – make Peacetown not only effective, but also fun.
Age: 7-12
“The double sided board allows players to feel like they have progressed in their learning and creates a sense of achievement.”
– Will Mitchell, YOT Officer, Milton Keynes YOT
