This activity pack is designed for use with children in families where there has been domestic abuse, to help and encourage them to open up to their mothers about their distressing experiences.
It establishes practical 'ground rules' on how mothers can enter into that communication successfully.
The activities are designed around four main themes:
- Talking about personal experiences, including domestic violence
- Building self-esteem
- Naming feelings
- Encouraging mother-child communication
Activities are accompanied by photographs that prompt discussion about the issues raised, and further information is provided on support services available to families coping with domestic abuse.
