This easy-to-use and creative card game encourages reflection, discussion, and learning about social skills in a fun and entertaining way. Designed either as a stand alone PSHE activity or a supplement to an emotional literacy programme, Assertiveness Game allows students to practice basic skills of assertion. There are two different types of cards which engage students with social situations and opinions. Opinion cards include: • 'Who in the group is most likely to consider other people's feelings' • 'Who in the group is most likely to remain “cool” in an argument?' • 'Who in the group is least likely to giggle or laugh nervously'. Situation cards include: • 'The person on your left has been spreading rumours about you. You feel upset and hurt. Express feelings of hurt.' •'Your teacher compliments you on an excellent piece of work. Accept this compliment.' • 'The person opposite you is making fun of your because you have just started to wear glasses. Refuse to be put down.' 6-8 players Age: Up to 14 Assertiveness Game is one of the games played in Your Choice: Assertiveness which provides a complete curriculum where aggressive, passive and assertive responses are contrasted and the consequences of these ways of behaving are explored.
