This inviting game draws on each child’s experiences and emotions, looking at how the child normally deals with anger, highlighting areas that might need work. Sentence-completion cards bring out aspects of the child’s experience and his or her perception of it, other game elements elicit stories from the child, thereby giving the educator a chance to examine relationships and responses to the events presented in the story.
The cards offer both constructive anger management strategies and less positive impulses that individuals often feel when angry, providing the child with a wider set of coping strategies to draw from when feeling angry.
Cards include:
● “When I wake up at night I feel ______ because _______”
● “If I could change something about myself I would ______”
● “Anger Alternative: I could talk it over with my teacher to figure out what I could do.”
● “Anger Alternative: I could spread rumours about the other person”.
