The PEP Talks (Positive Emotional Preparation) card decks, written by internationally recognised psychologist Dr Lawrence Shapiro, break down into three parts: on the front of the card is a quote or simple psychological technique, on the back is an explanation of the quote or technique, and lastly there’s a behavioural assignment. Examples of techniques for overcoming depression include: • Make a plan to gain control of your life • Talk back to your negative thinking • Stay connected to your friends • Ask for help when you need it.
